Cauliflower Corn Fritters
Feb 15th 2014, 23:28

This is a "mashup" so to speak, of a few recipes. My husband hates cauliflower, but I love it. I made these to go with salmon one evening. He ate them without knowing they had cauliflower in them, even had seconds and said he'd have them again if I made them. Once he found out they were "tainted" he even grudgingly agreed he'd try them again.

Ultimate Jiffy Southern Cornbread * SWEET & MOIST *
Feb 15th 2014, 16:54

Sweet, moist and dense...how cornbread is done around here. Can add a small can of jalapenos for spice, but I do not.

Spicy Sausage Borscht
Feb 15th 2014, 16:52

A friend traded me this recipe for my oxtail split-pea soup. I've got to say, for a quick and easy recipe (less than an hour to table), it really packs a wallop! The use of spicy sausage is key here, as well as the fennel seed, dill seed, and fresh dill, and using canned beets makes it *so* much less work than it would be otherwise. I think maybe I got the better part of the trade....

Mocha Chocolate Mousse
Feb 15th 2014, 12:55

Recipe from Southern Living February 2014. This seriously easy and decadent mousse hides a smart a secret: reduced-sodium soy sauce. Just 1/2 teaspoon elevates the deep, rich flavor of the dark chocolate. Add crunch with cookies to contrast the mousse's silky texture. Heating store-bought shortbread for five minutes in a 350F. oven opens up the flavors of the buttery cookies.

Linzertorte
Feb 15th 2014, 11:25

This recipe comes from a magazine from 1990. I used to make it all of the time and guess what, I lost the recipe. I found it this morning tucked in a very old cookbook. It is delicious, rich and creamy and uses a yellow cake mix. the hardest thing to do is prepare the almonds.
