Perfect for summer picnics or 4th of july cookouts, this fruit dish is mellowed by a subtle flavor of vanilla. Look for vanilla beans in your grocery's spice section. To use, slit them open lengthwise and scrape out the seeds.

Cream cheese beaten into the custard base is the secret to this immeasurably smooth and luscious ice cream If you don't have a large, 6-quart ice cream maker, divide the amounts by three and use a standard 1 1/-2 or 2-quart machine. A great recipe from Relish Mag.

Beet and Tomato Gazpacho

By Martha Rose Shulman in the NYTimes, published August 3, 2013. The beet lends a beautiful color to this version. I only had baby beets, so used a handful of them in lieu of a larger one. I also added one chopped, unpeeled Granny Smith apple, which worked very well. Cooking time is chilling time.

Mrs. Barbara's Curry Crab Dip

My mom's good friend Mrs. Barbara would always make this delicious crab dip for holidays and gatherings. She passed away over 15 years ago and I didn't think my mom had gotten the recipe from her before she died, but I found out this weekend that she had!! Can't wait to make this and remember all the good times we had with such a great lady.

Lime and Balsamic Vinaigrette

Try this with any green lettuce. The egg yolk will thicken the dressing. Directions are included on how to pasteurize the egg.

A tasty vegetarian lasagna. Tofu is used instead of ricotta cheese here, but you can easily use ricotta instead.
