Salade De Cote Riviera (Riviera Salad) Aug 24th 2013, 23:19 This quick salad hails from the Riviera Coast somewhere between Marseille and Genoa. Definitely better the next day. The famous restaurant, Delmonico's, offered a version heavy with mustard on it's menu as early as 1901. Now for most Americans, it is a mayonnaise dressed side dish, popular for picnics. | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 25, 2013 12:01:49 AM | | Pub Cheese Spread Aug 24th 2013, 22:08 This is an all-time favorite in English Pubs. Best if aged in the refrigerator for one week. For a more upscale and refined spread, substitute brandy or cognac for the beer. | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 11:08:17 PM | | Raw Mayan Truffles Aug 24th 2013, 21:57 A decadent raw truffle featuring almonds, dates and cocoa powder, and a touch of cinnamon, nutmeg and cayenne. | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 10:57:27 PM | | Irish-American Corned Beef Hash Aug 24th 2013, 21:27 This recipe is a mashup of several really good corned beef hash recipes I've had over the years. Interestingly, corned beef hash is not an Irish dish but an Irish-American one. Corned beef has been made by the Irish for centuries but mainly for export by the British landowners. It was not eaten by the traditional folk of the Island due to high cost until they emigrated to American and found corned beef to be cheaper than bacon. The corned beef replaced bacon in hash recipes around this time. The cheap cost of corned beef also made the New England Boiled Dinner, consisting of corned beef, cabbage, and root vegetables such as carrots, turnips, and potatoes, extremely popular across New England and Atlantic Canada. | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 10:27:52 PM | | Aromatic Cabbage Aug 24th 2013, 21:19 Finely shredded and stir fried cabbage with aromatic spices - a great way to eat this healthy vegetable | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 10:19:28 PM | | Spicy Prawn Salad Aug 24th 2013, 20:39 A simple seafood salad with lime and chilli - other seafood could easily be substituted | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 9:39:38 PM | | Delicious Cranberry Orange Muffins Aug 24th 2013, 18:13 I make a lot of muffins, but these are among my favorites. Tried one of these a few days ago and have been back 3 times. Last time, I thought this was crazy, so I questioned the cashier. He said use 7 squirts of peach syrup. They sell their own brand of syrup, but NOT peach. Off to Smart and Final to pickup some Torani in Peach, plunger, Tazo Zen and Simply Lemonaid. I purchased the plunger which was under $3.00 (I love that thing!) because the cashier had no idea what 7 squirts measured out to be. It's so much easier to squirt out the syrup, then measure into each glass, or so, I think. Hope you enjoy as much as I do! No more money spent at Starbucks on these babies! | Rating: 0 Created: Aug 24, 2013 3:08:23 PM | | |
