It's always a huge hit and on the rare occasion that there is actually any leftover, it's even better the next day. The orzo summer salad is extremely easy to throw together and makes a large amount, so this recipe is perfect for a big gathering and can be made ahead of time so all you have to do is toss a spoon in the bowl and put it on the table. There's no way I'd skip ordering it when going to a Thai a restaurant, and I always have a jar of tom yum paste on hand to make my own. While the tom yum paste makes great soups and even stir-frys, I was craving something more substantial so I came up with this. The addition of yams and kale really doesn't taste as strange as it sounds, honest. If you can't find lemongrass or kaffir lime leaves, use the zest from the orange & lime. No Thai chili peppers? | | Spicy Nine-Vegetable Gumbo Jan 24th 2014, 16:49 During a recent really, really cold snap, I developed a craving for a good, thick, chunky Louisiana-style gumbo with a spicy kick. This turned out perfectly. The sesame oil and smoked paprika give it depth, so that you won't miss ham or seafood in this gumbo. I'm glad I made a huge pot of it!
