Savory Pies: Steak and Kidney Pie I May 7th 2013, 00:00 4.67 / 5 Stars | 2 Reviews by Barrie Malson "Seasoned and floured cubes of meat are slowly roasted in the oven until tender. Extra flour and seasonings are added to the pan juices to thicken them a bit. Then everything is put into a pie plate that 's then topped with a round of pastry. Bake it until it 's golden brown, and serve it with mounds of mashed potatoes and a green vegetable." If you love garlic, you will love this. My husband doesn't like it because it has too much garlic for him! It is an Italian dipping sauce that you eat as a main course. It is very soupy. You can eat it with Chinese cabbage, green peppers and/or Italian bread. I got the recipe from my mother several years ago; she told me that it was an old Italian dish. We are not Italian, but it has been in my family for a couple of generations!" The Hoisin sauce is available in the Oriental Food Section of the grocery store... it is like cross between soy and ketchup, and makes a wonderful glaze for this moist meatloaf. We love this dish. Very moist. Serve with rice and steamed broccoli. A wonderful dinner. Leftovers make great sandwiches." View Complete Recipe Details and Reviews | |
