Volumetrics House Dressing May 20th 2013, 21:30 Creamy and exotic, a good dip for veggies as well. Toast the seeds before grinding, if you use whole spices. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 10:30:07 PM | | Whole Fruit Orange Bran Muffins May 20th 2013, 21:09 Use a navel orange, as they are seedless and juicy. Organic oranges should be used, as conventionally grown ones have a lot of pesticides in their peels. Adapted from "Living the G. I. Diet". They will keep up to 2 days, otherwise freeze them for up to a month. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 10:09:21 PM | | Southwest Chicken and Bean Soup May 20th 2013, 20:35 Like a mild chili but soupier, a recipe adapted from "Living the G. I. Diet". Substitute whatever canned beans you have on hand, or turkey for the chicken. If using previously cooked chicken, add it at the end to heat through, or it will overcook. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 9:35:18 PM | | Walnut Chicken With Dijon Cream Sauce May 20th 2013, 20:29 This is a Betty Crocker recipe. There is a little prep work involved so start a good hour or so before you plan to eat. It's well worth the wait. I think any kind of a sauce would be good with this. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 9:29:51 PM | | Magnificent Mango Ice Cream May 20th 2013, 20:18 Note: COOKING TIME IS MACHINE TIME, does not include time in freezer. Having six mango trees within arms reach on our property, I'm a fanatic for mango recipes. We've tried so many mango ice cream recipes, including some really good ones. But one thing I've found is that the mouthfeel of all the heavy cream was a bit gross. Here is a recipe that combines and tweaks some of my favorites, and uses a bit of sweetened condensed milk instead of cream for that "just right" amount of creamy mouthfeel. This is a rich and creamy ice cream, and I think you'll find it VERY pleasing! If you're alcohol-free, you can omit the rum but after a few days the ice cream may be hard. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 9:18:41 PM | | Painless Pisco May 20th 2013, 19:00 I wanted a Painkiller sooooo bad!!! So off I go, putting the fruit juices in the shaker. Coconut cream??? OMG - all out!!! This yummy concoction is the result of not wanting to throw out some juice... The Pisco caught my eye as I rummaged through my liquor drawer, and replaces the rum in a traditional Painkiller. And best of all, not an ounce of fattening coconut cream to be found. You might say this is a "healthy" painkiller. LOL - that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Enjoy this smooth, but potent, beauty! | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 8:00:15 PM | | Ravioli With Pears, Parmesan, Spinach, and Walnuts May 20th 2013, 17:01 Chef Madeline Dee has a blog on Blogspot.com with this gem I found on Facebook, of all places! It combines two of my favorites - spinach, pear and walnut salad with filled pasta (ravioli) - into a yummy quick dinner! | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 6:01:24 PM | | Creole Bread Pudding With Bourbon Sauce May 20th 2013, 16:37 I found this recipe on the MyRecipes.com website. The intro states it originates from New Orleans chef Leah Chase, the queen of Creole cuisine (and from Dooky Chase's Restaurant in New Orleans, Louisiana). It is positively delicious. It's really quite good as a plain bread pudding (without the added sauce). But the Bourbon sauce is really the je ne sais quoi finish that makes this stand out far above all the others I've tried. For those who don't care for alcohol, the Bourbon Sauce is not really "boozey" (it's not detected at all, in fact) but is a creamy sauce with a slight caramel flair to it. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 5:37:14 PM | | Raspberry-Topped Ricotta Cakes May 20th 2013, 16:21 Individual low-fat cheesecakes. The description they give is: a simple and easy way to make individual servings of cheesecake that are perfectly portable. Your slow cooker is the key to creating the warm, moist environment that's best for baking cheesecakes. A hint they also supplied was "The slow cooker method works well for almost any cheesecake batter. Imagine a buffet of your favorite flavors, each in a perfect little jar!" Cheesecakes will stay fresh in their jars in the fridge for up to a week. | Rating: 0 Created: May 20, 2013 4:39:51 PM | | |
