Deep-Dish Sun-Dried Tomato and Artichoke Quiche W/Bacon
Jul 13th 2013, 22:48

This is a Quiche of my own invention using sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and bacon! fluffy, airy, savory and delicious! Note: this makes 1 large deep-dish quiche, but you can divide it into 2 smaller quiches if you like.

Al Khurshoof
Jul 13th 2013, 21:21

Marinated Artichoke Appetizer from Morocco. The Arabian Delights by Weiss-Armush. English: artichoke, Spanish : alcachofa, Arabic: al-khurshuf. Works beautifully as part of a mezzeh; or in the manner of Spanish tapas. Middle Eastern red pepper powder is usually aleppo or Turkish but you can sub 4 parts sweet paprika to 1 part cayenne. Also, I've read several sources online that ancho chili powder will work, too. If you really hate cilantro, substitute fresh flat leaf/Italian parsley.

Italian Sausage Soup
Jul 13th 2013, 20:44

I love soups that allow you to throw everything under the kitchen sink in a pot and come out with something tasty. This recipe calls for a large can of beans, and I used 15 ounce cans and ended up adding an additional can. I also added additional green beans. Recipe courtesy of Feeding the Flock, For All Our Friends From the Koffee Pot (Nampa, ID) and Maxine Carroll. Serving size is estimated.

Pantry Sloppy Joes
Jul 13th 2013, 19:46

I call these "Pantry Sloppy Joes" because we needed dinner and I threw these together from whaat was in my pantry and fridge. However, these can be altered if you like; For a more savory flavor, lesson the beef broth and replace 8 oz. of ketchup with 4oz tomato paste and 4 oz tomato sauce. For chunkier sloppy joes, cut the onions larger and throw in some shredded carrots and/or minced green bell.

Cape Malay Chilli Bites Dhaltjies
Jul 13th 2013, 19:24

This recipe is from Afri-Chef. It is noted that variation of chili bites actually comes from where on the Cape Peninsula the recipe originated. This is because the availability of spices varied by distance from the harbour. The types of flours and spices vary as do the amounts and type of chillis used. The water amount is at your discretion-See instructtions. tServings is roughly 30 bites.
