Carrot Cake Whoopie Pies With Cream Cheese Filling
May 16th 2013, 16:52

From "Tasting Table" blog: Carrot cake conjures memories of sticky fingers and the inevitable hoarding of cream cheese frosting. So when Claire Twesten, the pastry chef of Philadelphia's new Talula's Garden and its parent restaurant, Talula's Table, began thinking about a cookie plate for the restaurant, she harnessed the flavors of a homespun carrot cake. These tender cookies are packed with carrots, raisins and oats and hold a delicious layer of honey-sweetened cream cheese icing. Twesten serves these double-decker treats with three other cookies (chocolate-caramel-sea-salt bars, almond boterkoek and vanilla crescents), but we prefer ours alongside an extra serving of icing. Some things never change.

Juno's Blueberry Dump Cake
May 16th 2013, 16:24

I love dump cakes because they are so easy to make and definately kid-kitchen friendly. My 4 yr old helps me bake all the time and this is one that she can make by herself with a little help from Mom. She loves it because she can put her hands in it to spread the ingredients and she picks what fruit we use, what to add ect... Plus it's a great way to sneak in something healthy like fresh organic fruits!

French Hangover Chicken Soup
May 16th 2013, 14:36

From the blog CHOW: This cold-weather soup, featured in cookbook author/Francophile Dorie Greenspan's Around My French Table, is described as Provence's version of America's chicken soup. This simple, subtle garlic concoction is used to cure colds, as well as the more common hangover. Dorie likes to start with three eggs yolks, adding as many as three more. We made it several times and settled on the richer version with the full six. Use the leftover whites for chocolate mousse, another great cure-all.

I needed a recipe for a quick tomato sauce and all I had was canned tomatoes. I found this online and it was perfect! I hardly want "slow" cooked sauce anymore!

My Favorite Savory Chicken Salad
May 16th 2013, 13:06

This is for people who cringe at the thought of fruit in their chicken salad! There are no raisins... no grapes... no pineapple bits... nothing sweet in this recipe!! I grew up on the salty flavors of the chicken salad from the New York Deli in Boulder, CO. It was delicious! They closed many years ago - and that drove me to make my own version. Here it is! Serve on a toasted bagel (my favorite) or stuff in a pita, or in a croissant - fancy! Always delicious!

Another one from my head. They freeze well, and are just as good reheated. What more can I say? Oh, they taste good too!

Jenni's Chicken Fried Steaks
May 16th 2013, 12:12

One of my all time favorite ways to make steaks, even if it does make a mess! It's worth the effort every time. Marinating the steaks in the milk and egg makes it so you don't have to double coat it with the flour, and pancake mix makes for a crisp buttery crust. All seasoning is just done according to taste. I usually serve them with smashed potatoes and green beans.

Mac and Cheese Rice Cooker Recipe
May 16th 2013, 12:11

I love this recipe. It's super easy and takes no time at all. I simply put all the ingredients in the rice cooker and press start. Below are the 2 simple steps to take. For my fuzzy cooker I simply let it go through the whole rice cycle and the texture and taste is great. Every rice cooker is different. So make sure to have a peak at it again after step 2. I found it on weelicious and tweaked it fit our taste
