Lemon Infused Honey(With Variations)
May 13th 2013, 19:49

Honey(raw organic is best) is one of nature's miracles. It is a delicious ingredient in many foods, has antibacterial properties, works as a humectant (keeps things moist), soothes a cough or sore throat, and makes your tea about 1,000 better-and that's just scratching the surface really. Whether you're using it as a sweetener, or trying to kick a cough, it's just plain useful. Here are 5 flavors (and a general method) to infuse your honey and make it that much more wonderful. From everydayroots.

Buttery Maple-Cinnamon Syrup
May 13th 2013, 18:25

This is a simple, delicious alternative to regular maple syrup or the store-bought artificially-flavored variety. Serve warm over French toast, waffles or pancakes. My munchkins give it four thumbs up, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Julia Owen's Green Bean Casserole
May 13th 2013, 17:20

Green bean casserole is a favorite of so many of us. Green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and those delicious French Fried Onion Rings in a can, while it may not be healthy, is a classic dish you simply must have. You can have this Thanksgiving classic anytime of year by adding ground beef to this famous green bean casserole. This recipe is by Julia Owens. Kansas City, MO. 1971.

Cornmeal Crust Strawberry Pie
May 13th 2013, 16:25

This is an adaption of my "Blackberry/Blueberry pie", it has a tasty ,buttery, cornmeal crust and fresh strawberries in a sweet/tart glaze filling. Good for a summer party or to use up that old cornmeal or tub of strawberries you want to use up (feel free to add other berries! just make sure to add more sugar/splenda and less vinegar if it is a more tart berry!)

Another great food budget watcher! I don't know too many people that will turn down hot dogs! This is an inexpensive casserole to make. Potatoes, canned soup mix and hot dogs are the main ingredients in this casserole.

Walnut Milk
May 13th 2013, 15:12

You've heard of almond milk, you can also make other nut milks, like walnut milk. Here is a good recipe from Better Homes and Gardens. The nuts need some time to soak, so plan accordingly. Compared to certain other nuts, such as almonds, peanuts and hazelnuts, walnuts (especially in their raw form) contain the highest total level of antioxidants. California, China, Iran, Turkey, Ukraine, Mexico, Romania, India, France and Chile are the largest producers of walnuts. Interesting note: In China, pairs of walnuts have traditionally been rotated and played with in the palm of the hand, both as a means to stimulate blood circulation and as a status symbol. Pairs of large, old and symmetrically shaped walnuts are valued highly and have recently been used as an investment, with some of them fetching tens of thousands of dollars. Pairs of walnuts are also sometimes sold still in their green skin, as a form of gambling known as du he tao.[

Try it and you will love it. I would like to have a cup of warm ginger tea in winter, and a cup of cold ginger tea in summer.
