Chinese Napa Cabbage Salad (Gluten-Free)
Aug 12th 2013, 22:15

This recipe was inspired by California Pizza Kitchen's Chinese Chicken Salad. I made it gluten-free and eliminated the chicken, but if you eat chicken, you can add a barbecued chicken on top and make it a main dish. When you chop an entire napa cabbage, it may seem like a lot, but once you add the dressing, it wilts down. I used both black and white sesame seeds, but if you have only one kind, you can just double the amount. Chia Limeade
Aug 12th 2013, 22:08

Healthy and yummy! Chia seeds have more antioxidents than blueberries. The consistency of the chia seeds is like the pulp of the limes Recipe courtesy Marcela Valladolid Show: Mexican Made Easy, Episode: Marcela's Taco Stand

Persian-Influenced Meatballs
Aug 12th 2013, 21:54

A recipe I put together last night for dinner. I was running late prepping dinner but I knew I wanted something Middle Eastern. The meatballs were served with Persian-style plain basmati rice ('kateh'), pan grilled zucchini and broccoli, and cantaloupe and watermelon slices with orange blossom water sprinkle for dessert.

Vanilla Ice Cream With Maker's Mark (Bourbon)
Aug 12th 2013, 20:05

Another wonderful Michael Ruhlman ("Ratio") recipe, this one for frozen custard laced with the good stuff. Use any add-ins you like, such as toasted nuts, cherries, ginger, or orange zest. Use any milk or cream you like, but whole milk and heavier creams will taste the best, as this is not a low-fat dessert!

Walnut Vinaigrette
Aug 12th 2013, 19:36

A recipe from the incomparable Michael Ruhlman, from "Ratio". This recipe goes beyond simply using nut oil; you can blend the mixture so the nuts are totally pureed, or leave them chopped and slightly chunky if you prefer. Other nuts and nut oils can be used. This dressing is best on a salad with sharp, even acidic ingredients, like apples (or other fruit), endive, radicchio, or watercress.
