Gyoza Dipping Sauce
Aug 7th 2014, 22:50

One of my favorite things about ordering Gyoza from a restaurant is that little container of dipping sauce that comes with them. I know that Gyoza requires little of that sauce for it to be delicious but I could dip, dunk, or pour this sauce on just about everything from egg-rolls to sushi. NOTE: You can find Mirin in Whole Foods, or if you're in a pinch use 1/8 teaspoon sugar mixed with 2 Tablespoons Sherry

Lentil Stuffed Peppers
Aug 7th 2014, 22:50

This recipe for these Southwestern-flavored, lentil-stuffed peppers is featured in my new book, Schedule Me Skinny: Plan to Lose Weight and Keep it Off in Just 30 Minutes a Week -- and is one of my favorites because it helps me stick to #MeatlessMonday, one of my favorite healthy initiatives. Lentils, one of SELF's favorite superfoods, adds a hefty dose of fiber and protein to this meal, while the bell peppers gives a huge shot of vitamin C to your system -- three times that of an orange, in fact!

Five-Minute Breakfast Sausage
Aug 7th 2014, 22:47

This recipe is from Mr. Food. This turned out grandkids- approved. It was quick and cheap to make. I used ground turkey in place of the pork. It is very mildly seasoned. I think that is why the kids liked it, the seasonings can be tweaked to your preference. Just be careful not to over-cook the patties or they will be dry. I also microwaved them on a microwave bacon platter that has ridges.

Accidental Baby Food
Aug 7th 2014, 22:46

I came up with this when I was trying to make a healthy, homemade potato and vegetable soup by adlibbing a recipe I'd found online. However will all the extra veggies the "soup", which should've been white and creamy, instead came out looking more orange and thicker than expected. When I gave it to my family to taste, the first thing everyone said was that it looked like baby food. And thus the "Accidental Baby Food" was born.

Continuous Brew Kombucha Tea
Aug 7th 2014, 17:38

Kombucha tea is a fermented tea that is high in good bacteria and yeast. Great for your health. I drink a cup or two every day. It tastes a little like tangy apple cider. With the continuous brew, you will always have tea ready to go. You will need a gallon or larger glass beverage container with a spigot. Make sure the spigot is plastic and not metal. You don't want metal to touch the scoby (which is the culture needed to ferment your tea). Metal will kill the scoby, along with any heat. The scoby looks a little like a huge mushroom top, but pale and somewhat see-through. The rest of the instructions will be included in the body of the recipe. Cook time is fermenting time. The database wouldn't accept 'scoby', but this is critical to the drink. If you need one, contact me and I can direct you.
