Marinated Strawberries
Aug 5th 2014, 21:25

Great way to end a romantic dinner or, maybe, made special for Mother's Day. The longer it sits, the more flavor the vodka will extract from the berries. Adapted from "A Girl and Her Pig: Recipes and Stories," by April Bloomfield with J.J. Goode. Chill time required.

Avocado-Tomatillo Taco Truck Sauce
Aug 5th 2014, 21:06

Ms. Gutierrez writes: "This is perhaps the most popular avocado sauce used by taco truck vendors in Mexico. A little sour and very creamy, it's used to top everything from totopos (fried tortilla chips) to tacos and chilaquiles. The acidity of the tomatillos keeps the avocado fresh and vibrantly green for up to three days, if refrigerated." Adapted from "Latin American Street Food: The Best Flavors of Markets, Beaches, and Roadside Stands from Mexico to Argentina" by Sandra A. Gutierrez.

Roasted Berry Sauce
Aug 5th 2014, 20:33

From jelly toast blog and posting for safekeeping. Interesting technique. She shows it on a s'more type recipe- a crisp waffle cookie, roasted marshmallow, dark chocolate, berry sauce, and topped with another crisp waffle cookie. Lovely. Think this would be excellent over pancakes and french toast, on ice cream, orange marinated pear wedges with some nuts and blue cheese, etc. Possibly switch out vanilla and cardamon and sub in chipotle or cumin and use on meat or mix into vinaigrette? Guessing at yield. And haven't a clue to how long it would keep in refrigerator.

Latino Dal!
Aug 5th 2014, 20:32

I love this recipe. It's mainly a typical dal soup recipe with poblano and serrano peppers in place of the usual peppers.

Veggie Pizza
Aug 5th 2014, 20:32

Single Serving Pizza - I saw this on the Foodnetwork site, and changed over half the ingredients and sized it down to a single serving. The vegetables could probably be changed, I just used what I had and it turned out pretty good!
