Lagman Bukharian Soup
Apr 15th 2014, 13:32

This is a tasty meat and noodle soup from the Bukharian Jews of Central Asia, which is today's Uzbekistan and Tajikistan regions… and its origins are from Chinese and Korean cuisines. The hand made/pulled noodles is an important ingredient to this delicious soup, which are thick or thin like Chinese Lo Mein or Japanese Udon noodles.

Mile High Meringue
Apr 15th 2014, 13:32

This recipe comes from "Miss Patti's Cook Book" that I recieved from my wonderful partner during the Regional Swap. Apparantly Miss Patti and her family run a resturant in Tennessee and this meringue is used on her signature pies. She states she made them tall as she wanted people to stop and look. She also had trouble with pies weeping until she tried this recipe that is just a little differant in that it uses baking powder instead of cream of tarter. Serving size is a guess as it depends on the size of your pie slices.

Tax Season Fried Rice
Apr 15th 2014, 13:28

April is a SAD month. Property taxes are on the 10th and then 5 days later, income taxes are due. When I'm stressed I have to find some comfort using what's in the refrigerator. Cold, leftover brown sticky rice in my refrigerator and an egg. Make sure the rice is sticky or "sweet rice" so it's more starchy and sticky. I only have brown rice but you can use white.

Best General Tso's Chicken from Serious Eats
Apr 15th 2014, 13:28

Entered for safe-keeping. Not candy-coated, this General Tso's Chicken from J. Kenji López-Alt, Chief Creative Officer of Serious Eats, has vinegary kick to balance the sugar. It gets a crisp crust from the vodka in the chicken coating. Adding some of the marinade to the coating gives extra crunch. For more information, see http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/04/the-food-lab-bringing-home-general-tsos-chick.html
